20 carpenters nail nearly $20M in lottery winLast Updated: Friday, April 6, 2007 | 12:11 AM ET CBC News Twenty Ontario carpenters can now build on their dreams after claiming almost $1 million each in provincial lottery winnings Thursday. The co-workers, who are employed by Tower Scaffold, a company in Nanticoke near Hamilton, also plan to return to work, even after learning they had one of two winning Lotto 6-49 tickets drawn Wednesday. The men, who only started buying lottery tickets two weeks ago, earned $19.4 million, half of the $38.7- million jackpot. The second winning ticket has not been cashed in yet. "I took the winning numbers slip into the office to show the guys and my heart was beating very fast," carpenter Brandon Sneddon of Hamilton said in a press release. Sneddon and his co-workers bought their ticket at a convenience store in nearby Hagersville.
